Louis Theroux was on One Show today plugging a follow up to his scary/interesting documentary from a few years ago about Westboro Baptist Church.

he said that they`ve seen his original documentary, so now he`d featured in their hate campaign! he also said some of the family saw his documentary, and have since left the organisation and wanted to talk to him about his, saying he was part of the reason for them leaving.

We really like Louis Theroux, kind of miss his old material which was lighter, fluffier, and funny for the right reasons, rather than the more recent scary ones!

Their websites have been down for about 2 months due to a sustained ddos attack from th3j35t3r. (he`s managed to a lot of it from his andriod, which is nifty).

It started when `anonymous` issued a `threat` to the WBC, stating they`d lost patience with the church and would summarily take down all their websites. The WBC responded far too quickly with a rebuttal, and it became evident very quickly that the WBC had orchestrated the entire `war of words`, being the attention-whores that they are. This was the turning point.

th3j35t3r (The Jester) is a well known internet vigilante who spends most of his time taking down jihadist recruitment websites and is currently involved in getting reports out of Lybia. His anger at the WBC`s constant (constitutionally protected) protests at soldiers` funerals had more or less cut off their only methods of spreading their filth (aside from standing on street corners, which they`re not doing too much of lately.

Of course, bat-shiat crazy shirly phelps-roper is still trying to spread her divine message via talk radio interviews, but the last one didn`t do down too well (if you can`t stand the bulls***, it gets interesting around the 7-minute mark)

Seen that clip before, it`s very funny!

SPOILER:
There aint nothing you can do to our website

If you look your website is down as we speak

La la la no it isnt

Er, yes it is! Look at it!

And yes, I miss his more lighter sided ones. I have enjoyed his more serious stuff, but I much prefer the ones that have strange people on them.

I never miss a Theroux documentary, he has this knack of getting to the heart of the matter.  It also helped when he took the **** without his subjects knowing it - something he`s had to be careful of in his recent forays....

Read a really good blog a while ago (can`t remember location sadly) that pretty much nailed the WBC.

Basically, it`s all a con trick that everyone falls for. Their sole intention is to make money by suing local police force, local councils and anyone who `unlawfully` hinders or attacks them. Their demonstrations are very carefully managed to cause maximum offence while adhearing to the letter of the law, and if they get any grief from anyone - BANG - lawsuit. It`s no coincidence that they are mostly trained lawyers. They are careful not to make their attacks at any specific person, do not make direct attacks: "the Lord will kill gays" not "Kill all gays", etc.

They are fake. It`s all about makin` bakin`.

The best thing people can do really is just ignore them. All publicity is good for them.

Can`t find the Red State intro from Kevin Smith where he talked about the phelps a lot, but I did find him interviewing two of them here:

The Most Hated Family in America is available On Demand on Virgin, so I watched it again last night.

Must be careful how I choose words now ;)

Despite them clearly being being very horrible, hateful, nasty people, I had forgotten how intelligent they are, and can`t help buy feel sorry for the children. The very young ones carrying the banners, which Louis proved they don`t understand, and the older ones, who appear to be fully aware that they do not lead normal lives, but believe that they are doing the right thing, even if they won`t meet some-one to settle down with etc.

Looking forward to seeing him talk to the ones that left, and will be interesting to see if the exisiting members talk about them or not.

Interesting, but I don;t buy it for a second.

Fred and Shirley Phelps are insane, and their children are brainwashed. You do not subject innocent children to the hate and vitriol of 99.9999999999999999999999% of the english speaking world. They became litigious by necessity, not through greed. They don`t pay tax, so they`ve got all the money they need.
