Qatar World Cup Whitewash

RJS (undefined) posted this on Thursday, 13th November 2014, 14:32

So the report into the dodgy Qatar winning of the 2022 World Cup comes out, oh look no corruption found, what a shocker, and FIFA have a go at the FA based on it:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30031405

...and then the investigator whose original report the final one was based on, comes out and says it contains "contains numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations":

Quote:
Following the publication of Eckert's report, Britain's Fifa vice-president Jim Boyce said it was now time to move on.

However, his stance changed after Garcia's statement.

"In view of the fact Michael Garcia has now stated he is not happy with the findings and is to appeal, I await with interest to see what further disclosures will be made," said Boyce.

If you asked FIFA (Blatter) how many hours there where in the day they'd lie just out of habit.

Garcia's criticism prompted a number of key football figures, among them English Football Association chairman Greg Dyke, to call for his original findings, which are contained in a document that runs to several hundred pages, to be published in full.

Eckert said he would not take that step.

"I don't think that's possible because I have to respect the rights of confidentiality for continental law," said the German.

"Maybe it's another thing in the US, but in continental law I can't do it, and I can't do it in total even by the Fifa code of ethics. I will not do it."

The FIFA code of ethics being, "to deny any problem and cover up any wrong-doing"? :)

I'm damn sure it will be and that's the avenue it may well end up coming out from.

Apparently Coca Cola, as a main FIFA sponsor, are questioning what's going on and I think that's the route that may force FIFA out or into serious reform.
From the ground up, supporters letting the sponsors know that they are seriously p*ssed off with them.

EDIT: Slightly amusing but ultimately depressing read

Shock decision!

Quote:
"Fifa's executive committee has voted unanimously for the full publication of Michael Garcia's report into World Cup corruption, according to sources close to world football's governing body"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30546139

But then...

Quote:
It is understood the committee would want the full details to be released "where legally possible and after current investigations are completed".

Odds on anything embarrassing being redacted?
