RE: The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Thought that first section was horrific. From what I know of the scots (part scot myself), they hate being stereotyped, and that was just nothing but
Most entertaining bit for me has genuinely been the athlete's parade. The welcome every nation has received was amazing, and the massive cheer that went up when the England team came in nigh brought a tear to my eye
Brace yourself, it's about to turn into Children in Need

well just watched most of the opening ceremony and have to say i was more than presently surprised, the start was brilliantly tongue in cheek which is who we are, the music was perfect especially the version of 500 miles and the dancers....the entrance was fab and the roar and look of shock from the scotland team ...well we glaswegians would say puredeadbrilliantbytheway :).....
Still watching..Nicolla Benedetti......breathtaking.....her face as the 60k plus sing while she plays im sure is something she will never forget.....the personality of the ceremony reminds me on the London games.....it couldnt have been done anywhere else quite like this.
On a side note...i wonder if a positive games will have any impact on the independence vote?

Absolutely fantastic and, as you posted, the look on her face when the crowd joined in the chorus was simply breathtaking in its warmth and sincerity.
RE "Stereotyping" , does not bother me in the slightest. "See you Jmmy" etc is all part of lifes great plan and a laugh pure and simple. No malice, no hypocricy merely a laugh at "OUR" own expense
Just watched the swimming, 400mtrs womens medley and ITS GOLD
"Oh flower of Scotland" belted out by the crowd, absolutely brilliant and brought a tear to wee Hannahs eyes

Still not seen the opening ceremony yet, but been enjoying the cycling, and also Zoe Smith in the weight lifting winning a gold and then doing a back flip to celebrate!

So far I've seen one cycle race (work y'know) and I have to say a lot of it is passing me by.
For some reason 5Lives coverage, which has been excellent for Olympics, Golf Tennis etc, seems disjointed and bitty. Can't really get a handle on it and 18 hours a day coverage is pushing it a bit.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
