Page 2 of openSUSE 12.2 - Out!

"fixed" my problem. Opposite problem to the one I`ve had with openSUSE forever.
if I had my external hard drive plugged in when booting openSUSE, it would error, couldn`t find drives properly, whether in fstab I specified them with UID or /dev/ whatever (openSUSE recommends one over other I forget which made no difference anyway)
last night, I had a usb stick plugged into the pc when I rebooted it from Mint, and openSUSE started up fine into X. When I installed openSUSE at the weekend, I had the external hard drive plugged in, so I guess somewhere it`s confused about devices, and not mapping /dev/ properly.
quick google and i see other ppl have met that over the years!

Glad you sorted it dude. It`s always the silly things that catch you out. I have had this happen to me with other distros in the past.
So you on 12.3 then? What think?
12.3 lxde, dunno, only logged in, saw it worked, turned off then went to bed! Mint is set up nicely, it`s just nice to have another OS or 2 on there if when things go wrong, handy to fsck etc, but then again it`s just as easy to use a live usb/cd for that and to fix other problems.

LXDE??? You`re so retro dude. :D I think when I install it on my own desktop upstairs I might plump for the Gnome 3 version. I always did like the new Gnome in spite of the internet moan fest. Always found it worked well for me, and I love the approach. I don`t work in Linux though, just my home desktop, so it`s inevitable hardcore terminal users wouldn`t like a spangly new DE with effects. But KDE is so tempting these days, purely because it`s best in field, and so mature and stable. I like `em mature and stable. Oh yes...
lol, not retro, I just like to click on the menu buttons, and get a menu, click on an app, and it opens, click a cross and it closes, I don`t need things to zoom in and out, wobble, fade, catch on fire, the fact that it immediately does what I want is clue enough
saying that, I like cinnamon cos I want to use a GUI to alter what`s in my menus etc, my days of spending hours editing text files to alter task bar positions, menu items etc are long behind me :)

is viewtiful mark still about, if not I guess no-one cares, but openSUSE 13.2 is out
http://www.opensuse.org/en/
13.2 is out now, I've downloaded it, but not installed yet. I read that tumbleweed and factory are becoming one rolling release
Yeah still around with occasional postings. :)
Downloaded the Gnome 3 edition yesterday and quite nice. They actually have their Nvidia repository available from the get-go which hasn't happened for a few years, so I'll probably install this alongside my beloved Mint this weekend. :)
