Strange Google message

DP (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 7th February 2006, 16:11

Need advice please

Over the last few days I have had the below message come up when I have done a google search

We`re sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can`t process your request right now.

We`ll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we`ll see you again on Google.
To continue searching, please type the characters you see below

I have done a virus scan with up to date avg and a scan with spybot. Both say my PC is clear.
Has anyone else had this, should I be worried ?

Thanks for any advice

I did a few Gooogle searches just now but all went through OK.
Could it be from your ISP?

Was it on Google Groups? I had the same message come up yesterday when I clicked a link to go to the next page. I just did a refresh, and it loaded the page ok.

Mark :)

I can only think that the hosts file (somewhere in Windows directory or its subdirectories) contains an entry to google which is blocking it.

It was just a standard search, once I`d typed in the letters indicated, it went through.
Hasn`t done it since so it must have been a fault at Google
