Yes you can use .JAR files on a PC, providing you have a copy of the Java Runtime environment (JRE) installed.

If you don`t have a JRE installed then you can download a copy of the JRE from java.sun.com

Whether Nokia games will work on the PC I`m not sure (it depends if Nokia have any special library files that are installed on the phone, but don`t come with the standard JRE)

Hi there, sorry to butt in on your thread. Is there somewhere on the web an idiots guide to installing these games (without going via wap)? I have just boaght a cable via ebay for a 6230i & it came with a disk & about 600 games! Only thing is, the files are are either winrar or zipped. I`ve installed winrar and have extracted all sorts of files all over the place but they all seem to be "class" or anything at all except ".jar" types.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...
ta.

Extract the file to your phone rather than the pc
Thats the only way i could get it to work on
my Sony K750i.
Then click on it on the phone and it should install.
(does on the 750).

Flyer, Install the nokia suite from the cd that came with the phone, plug the cable into the PC the the phone into the cable.

The phone will then install s***loads of drivers onto your pc.

Then load the nokia suite and choose `Application Installer`. From here you just navigate to where the games or applications are and click them to install. Keep installing games until it tells you you have run out of memory.

The games are installed in the applications folder (underneath games). Some of the games are likely to be corrupt and will reset your phone when you try and use them. Its a bit hit and miss as to which ones work, but with a bit of trial and error you will get there.

I think I probably did the same as you, got the cd and spent ages wading through the crap.

If its the same cd as mine, ottomh, I can recommend

Crash and Burn
Ancient Empires
Splinter Cell
Shoot and Splash
Chocobloc
Pitfall Jungle
Yo-Yo master
Puzzlebobble
Samurai Jack
Planet Zero
Dexters Laboratory
Gameloft Solitaire
Tactics soccer (brilliant, but huge)
Pang

They are the only ones I can remember at the mo. If I get anymore, I will post, because I know how much of a ball ache it is to stick on loads of games that are crap or dont work.

Uh oh, don`t recognize any of those at the moment but thanks again for letting me know! I hope haven`t got the "ubercrap" one. Mine has such graphical wonders as
Maya The Dolphin,
Fruitymatch(!)
& DwangRacing!! :D

Looking forward to minutes of mirth!

My disk came as part of a bundle (I only wanted the cable) from ebay, could you say where your`s is from? I never really play games but if they`re free...

Cheers again for your help nick.
All the best...
