sky + pvr 3 problems

cat in the hat (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 8th September 2005, 12:39

I`ve just had my first Sky + box and generally it seems great although on the past couple of nights it has only part recorded programs, from what i can tell from the menu this is apparently because of program clashses (although only 1 prog was set) and on one occasion because the disc was full (although it currently proports to have 70% free space on the hard disc).
Any advice greatfully recieved
thanks

I got my first programme clash yesterday when recording one single 30 minute programme on ITV-2. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the latest software download...

Was the HDD literally full when the software reported it to be or was it an error?

Which brand and model Sky+ digibox are you using?

The Pace V.3`s are new boxes. I have a Pace V.2 at the moment and have had no such problems other than yesterday`s programme clash.

I would suggest you visit this forum which has lots of very useful information. The problem you have is common with other boxes, specifically Amstrad ones, I think.

If you have the default settings then Sky+ adds 2mins on the start & end (I think, not sitting next to my box at the moment)

So you can get clashes, which cause the "part rec" but when you check the recording you`ll only have missed the first 1-2 mins (which are generally adverts anyway) so it`s nothing to worry about.

Also you can get a "part rec" if the weather`s bad (i.e. heavy rain caused the signal to be lost)

Thanks, Do you have any idea why i`m getting failed recordings because of a full hard disk whenever i try and record on more than 17% of the drive?
