Page 1 of Did you vote?

Is everyone happy with their nice new (or re-elected) council?
Not to mention the odd mayor and Police something or other commissioner.
I know there's still results not in.

Overall so far though. Not good for Labour, far from disastrous for the Tories, a glimmer of hope for the Lib Dems and the prospect of a smiling Farage. I'm sure if he smiles any more his face will split.

I'm English so someone else can pick up the SNP and Plaid Cymru aspects.

Seems to me the biggest gainers are the political hacks and pundits who have a wealth of stuff to pick over in the coming days and weeks.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I got to vote for a Police something or other, and had received not a single piece of information on any of the candidates, so I voted for the incumbent who is an independent candidate.

I think the turnout last time for this sort of vote was under 25%, which shows how exciting it is.

New PCC down here... and yes as above never heard of 3 of the candidates previously, and apart from 5 minutes of fame on the BBC local news, none of them seemed to engage with voters... if 25% voted i will be amazed!

My old dear did the adjudicating (or whatever they are called) at her local hall.

They had a 9% turnout!


I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.

Down in kent there's rarely any point of having any kind of election, it the entire county is perpetually blue, so our new PCC is a Tory with no policing experience (apart from his dad and his brother). But he has pledged not to raise the Police aspect of the council tax bill, unless 'it's necessary'.

So yeah, our council tax will be going up

Writer`s Release

With 16% turnout on the Isle of Wight for our PCC (apparently quite high!), ours has gone from independent to Tory. I forget what his promises were, but probably the same as everyone elses, more bobbies on the beat, putting victis first, blah, blah, etc, etc.

sadly i have never heard of our new boss?

I remember last time we could vote for our local police whatver they are, I asked a policeman friend of mine who he recommended, he told me that most of them wanted  candidate, as that person was the only one who had been in the police, was liked, and respected, as they had seen and done it all. that person didn't win though.

this time we had no leaflets about the police candidates, my dad said the same :(
