General Forum
In case you are one of the millions with talktalk (that includes me), and not heard of the recent possible hack of your personal details, including bank account details, then have a read of the link below....
Also change your password when you can get back into talktalk welcome center (it seems to be down at the moment), and keep an eye on your relevant bank account, just in case.

One of my first ISPs was Tiscali, who were fantastic. Sadly, they got brought out by TalkTalk, who immediately sold my details to an Indian call centre. The calls started that day and haven't stopped yet. I happily dropped TT like a stone as soon as I could, and never looked back.
I feel sorry for those affected, but if TT gave a crap about their customers, they would have invested in better security

[quote]"Since the cyber attack on our website on Wednesday 21st October 2015, we have been working to establish what happened and, importantly, understand the extent of any individual customer data stolen during this attack. In light of the potential scale of attack, our responsibility last week was to inform all customers as quickly as possible. Our investigation continues, but we now know the extent of the data accessed is significantly less than originally suspected and can confirm that the following personal data was accessed:
- Less than 21,000 unique bank account numbers and sort codes
- Less than 28,000 obscured credit and debit card details (as previously stated, the middle 6 digits had been removed)"
So you don't have to worry if you have a credit or debit card, as 6 digits are not given.
But if you have a bank direct debit, then 21,000 customers could be at risk, as their account number and sort code never changes.
Or is it a risk?
Does it really matter, as if you are giving a cheque to another person or business, it has these details on the cheque anyway.
Or can these account numbers and sort codes be handy to criminals. I do not see how they could scam these customers, or could they?

...and they've nicked a 15 and 16 year old for it.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

They can get in, but I can't
Still.....No-one can get into their talktalk accounts at present to check their bills, etc, just a phone link to their Indian callcenter. Great!
Further Email update from TalkTalk.... (condensed version)
"Dear Mr XXXXXXX," Your personal info was not taken...We will offer you free upgrades in December"
That's good they did not get my personal info.
Also be interesting to see what free upgrades mean?
We wait and see. At least they are keeping us informed
