I was going to do a charity parachute jump this year but chickened out when I realised I would have to be seen jumping out from a high height.

I ended up doing a charity 'eat in', which was a lot safer, unless you reach over six cheese burgers and have a coronary

(I reached three, so still here  )

Didn't the phrase 'parachute jump' alert you to the notion that heights might be involved?

My sister did a couple of charidee jumps at a local airfield (Headcorn, for the locals) many years ago. They did something like half a days' "training". These were not tandem jumps, but single person static line jumps (parachute automatically opens when you're booted off the plane).

The whole thing looked like a health and safety disaster waiting to happen. Surprised there weren't more injuries than the odd turned ankle.

Did one of those myself at Headcorn exactly half a lifetime ago (32 years)

No, I've been dead ever since.

An experience to be recommended though.
Don't worry if you're scared of heights (I was/am) you can't see anything that far down to focus on anyway.

Charity sky diving, unless you are terrified of heights, doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice!

Well, I did it, finished the Great South Run in 1hr 40m 11s.  Placed in the top third placings, but when there are 25000 runners it only really matters if you come in first or last.

And raised £410 so far for Mind, likely to get a bit more now the event is over, so hopefully I will hit the £500 target that I set myself.

Not sure if I will do it again. Been struggling a bit with knee pain recently and until a couple of weeks ago wasn't sure if I would make the race at all after I hurt it on a training run. Plus the 2 toes that were just large blisters at the end of the race, that made the last 4 miles a real struggle to keep going at times.

I'm no expert, but is it outside of your knee, and only when your foot hits the ground when running? That's what I had, IT band, did some stretches every day that were on nhs direct, and bought a velcro strap to wear while running just above the knee, and I was able to run again no problem. I'll post links of you think they may be relevant/helpful. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do Tough Mudder as the pain would start 10 mins into a jog :(

when I saw my Dr about it, she wasn't v helpful, she thought it was odd that it stopped as soon as I stopped running, and could walk with no pain, and said to see her in a month's time it it didn't go away and she'd organise physiotherapy.

Thanks Admars, it is outside the bottom of the knee joint at the front.  I have had a bad back over the years and have a thinned disc in my lumbar, and probably need my osteo to take a look as I suspect it is connected. Started off on the outside of the knee as there is a muscle and connecting tendon that run from the hip , down the leg and then around the patella that can get irritated and inflamed. I had a problem with that and then it seemed to move around the front more.  But i do wear a support that helps and can do a 4 mile daily run ok, I just managed to tweak it on a Parkrun off road training run a couple of weeks ago and it flared up.

But all ok today and thinking about a short run tomorrow morning.  And have already entered for next year, yesterday I was just a bit p***ed about the blisters and a bit sore all over.
