I've got a Sony "waterproof" mobile, an Sony Xperia Z Ultra. TBH I would never use it underwater & it wasn't a consideration in my choice of handset. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that a mobile phone isn't capable of meeting the stated specifications.

I've got a Z3 Compact, and since I cracked the glass back the first week I got it (and have yet to get it fixed nearly a year later), coral reef diving with it has been off the agenda anyway...

I also see 'waterproof' as hopefully saving a phone if accidentally dropped in water. Wouldn't dream of using my S5 in water.
