May need to switch to one of these soon for my lad.
Are Giff Gaff still the best option?
Their £ 15 quid option seems to be a good bet (unltd text, 3GB of 4G and 500 mins)

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
deffo giff gaff if u can get decent signal....unlimited 4g is hard to beat
They're changing the rates in early September so all goodybags will be 4g. Also the £15 goodybag will go up to 1000mins talk with 4gb of (tetherable) data!
I just got a bunch more SIMs today as I had to switch to a Nano for my new Smart Ultra 6. *Cheeky plug* if you order using a referral code we both get £5 free credit. Ahem.

Thanks. If I go that way I'll get back to you.
It's just possible he may want an actual contract, if they'll give him one.
(No credit history so poss not)

"deffo giff gaff if u can get decent signal"Just checked and realised it's O2 which we're both on at the moment.
He loves it, I find it a bit patchy.
Whether that's the difference between an iPhone 5 and a Sony Z1 or location in the house I don't know.

You can buy phones through giffgaff too, kind of like having a more flexible contract. That's what I've done, although cheaper phone deals are probably available elsewhere.
Speaking of buying phones, I'm loving the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 that I got on Friday. Was a bit of an emergency buy as I had to give my phone to the Mrs after our boy dropped hers onto a concrete floor, but the specs are very impressive for the price point. The girl in the shop gave me the SIM unlock code for free as well, so I paid £125 for a 5.5" (1080p) octo-core phone with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and almost stock Android 5.0.2. Knowing Vodafone it probably won't receive an OS update, but the fact that it's stock gives me some hope and surely they have to address the Stagefright vulnerability...
