Facebookers and the Twitterati probably already have seen this, but even so, this explains what colour it really is and why different people perceive it as white and gold, or blue and black.

I love the way in that video he says it's blue on the website, completely ignoring the fact that other colours are available... Terrible photo, nothing news item.

Oh hold on, I missed the bit where there the originator of the photo said it was blue/black. Man, that makes the photo even worse.There's a blueish tint to it, but it in no way looks dark blue.

It's blue and black though you'd never believe it from that shot.

In a previous life I was photographing a luggage section for a catalogue and one suitcase was the bane of my life, didn't matter how you lit it it looked black but was green to the eye in real life.
Today no problem, Photoshop is your friend. Back then it was either an expensive retouch problem or try and colour wash the whole sheet.

I think lots of above is harsh or missing the point. True, maybe it's a 'bad' photo - in the sense that you may see it differently that it is in real life. That's not the point really. The point is where some may feel "There's a blueish tint to it", to some it completely looks blue and black - and others it appears white and gold. The exact same photo and some see completely different things.
For me it's very weird - sometimes it's clearly white and gold - yet, if I stare at it it changes to blue and black. I believe it's due to the fact we aren't really that great in perceiving colours on their own and it's often in comparison to surrounding colours.
Below is the most amazing one I know...
