Tough Mudder

admars (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 7th January 2015, 12:18

Anyone done this? https://toughmudder.co.uk

Some of the guys at work did it last year, and are doing it again this year. I thought I should do one last stupid/crazy/challenge before I hit the big 4 - 0 this year. Fate has it, my local event is a few days before my actual birthday, so it's fate :) / :(

need to do some actual training now!

I'm guessing it's a bit like this:

Too cold for me! (and too much effort, oh and too muddy :))

Good luck!

the fire and electricity don't bother you then ;)

tough mudder looks more difficult, and some of the obstacles you have to do as a team

have a few friends that have done them... expensive and overcrowded was their general opinion... and because of all the people a basic level of fitness required, no need to be superman!

good luck, I was reading some training guides last night, some were saying how ppl get so worked up about the obstacles, do upper body strength, but forget to do lots of practice runs as well, and "core" excercises.

I've also got a fundraising page, money goes to Help for Heroes

3 of us had our first training "run" today. was just a 2.5 mile jog, but since I haven't done a "run" since cross country at school, that's not too bad. I feel OK at the moment, maybe not in the morning ;)

I am up to 13 miles a day each morning at the gym on the cross trainer and 23 miles on the bike!

Need to get out on the road but a bit cold at the moment!

Any spare pennies gratefully received... for Cancer Research UK

MODERN TIMES: WEEKEND WARRIORS

The growing popularity of military-style obstacle courses, a global industry estimated to be worth more than half a billion dollars. The documentary follows five men over the length of one course - the Tough Mudder. As they attempt to conquer all 12 miles of the route, scaling 12ft walls, crawling through mud-filled trenches and submerging themselves in skips full of ice, the film also looks at their daily lives to explore why they would subject themselves to such an event in the first place.
