The article is a bit dubious, but I'm also really sceptical about the IBC. I've been nominated to do it, but that is absolutely not going to happen.

Totally agree with the general sentiment of that article. And I don't particularly like being publicly guilt-tripped into being obliged to do it either. The rule apparently is £3 if you do it, £10 if you 'bottle it'. I wouldn't want to nominate anyone else either. It's all got that Kony2012 chain-letter vibe about it.

Edit: it's not even a UK charity - Lou Gherig's disease anyone? Motor Neurone Disease thank you very much! (sidewalk/pavement, elevator/lift, uzi 9mm/homemade bow and arrow in the back garden)

Interesting (if not unsurprising) details on the charity involved.

I think some people have been giving to a UK charity instead, which is good.

One the one hand I hope that this will trigger the media to more closely examine organizations like this, and make those that take part in this sort of thing not blindly do something without investigating it a bit first.

But on the other hand, I wouldn't want it to stop people giving to many reputable charities that are much more careful with their money and not linked with industries.
