Page 2 of RIP XP

bugger, I've got 2 machines running XP. I didn't think it was that serious about stopping support.
What a load of hassle to install Vista on them. I re-installed it on my laptop a couple of weeks ago and can't get the file transfer thing to work, it only seems to be interested in W7.
Why would anyone be remotely interested in Vista?

from tomorrow, we're doomed, planes will fall out of the sky, ATMs will stop working, the MET Police will have to pay M$ shed loads for support ;)

As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect your PC. Microsoft will also stop providing Microsoft Security Essentials for download on Windows XP on this date. (If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you will continue to receive antimalware signature updates for a limited time, but this does not mean that your PC will be secure because Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates to help protect your PC.)
we now need Jack bauer, or Desmond from Lost...

I am firmly in the camp that didn't realise that it'd actually affect home pcs all that much. I'm running antivirus, and really only use it to play games on facebook and for the kids on cbeebies and the school reading programme so I'm guessing that's ok...either that or it'll explode when I try to turn it on, leaving me without a computer til I can afford to replace it!
I wouldn't use it for internet banking etc.

Relive your XP nostalgia with Microsoft's ‘Escape from Windows XP' game

You can check out the browser based game here and it should work with any modern browser. The game is a simple, arcade style, shooter where broken windows of IE6 make up the ‘ground’ that you play on while destroying various bits of XP nostalgia.
