cheers, I've been on eon for years no problem, recently saw in a quidco email about a campison to use to get quidco, then got an email from eon saying my bill is going up £20 a month ( no surprise really with increase in fuel costs and family double the number of ppl it was this time last year!) used that mse link to get comparisons and then used quidco :)

Quidco warned could take 6 months to get the cashback, but at least I'll save a bit each month :) now going to be with EDF.

I like the way the MSE site lists by price, but the recommended isn't neccesarily the obvious cheapest, and it pointed out the top 2 had v bad ratings for customer service (I had never heard of them)

If the government really want to fix this, then they would either start their own public utilities company, or take a private one back into public ownership, and set their own 'fair' prices. Maybe then we'd see some actual competition from the private firms.

Or we'd find out that the utilities sector really is screwed, and these annual winter prices rises actually do reflect the market.

What we need is a nice wealthy backer to kickstart not-for-profit companies to compete against them. :/

Like a building society but for energy.

when you switch, after a couple of months log into your old supplier's website to check your account.

I was still get emails from e.on, so I logged in, checked my balance, and i was £107 in credit still! So I contacted them with the useful "request a refund" link which explains you should automatcially get a refund when you switch. so I filled out my details, said I hadn't received a refund, following got an email back from them saying i'd get one, and yesterday go a cheque in the post. guess they send a cheque to get those extra days interest :(

I hate the way they send cheques, a lot of companies do it. They are quite good at taking your money digitally, but when it comes to giving it back?

I think part of the reason they do it is because most people don't bother cashing them if the amount is small enough.

Just switched from E-ON to GB Energy Supply for my electricity and gas, currently the cheapest by far for me (and probably many others).

EON had to pay me over £1000 early last year for overpayments... they then reset my DD, now its short by £20 a month, they are a royal pain in the proverbial trying to get them to increase my DD payments... when the fixed tariff comes to an end, they will be losing my business!

GB Energy gone plop:
https://www.gbenergysupply.co.uk/

Quote:
It is with regret that we are informing you that GB Energy Supply is no longer trading and therefore you will be unable to access our website at this time.

Due to swift and significant increases in energy prices over recent months and, as a small supplier our inability to forward buy energy to allow us to access the best possible wholesale prices, means that the position of the business has become untenable and as such we will now be entering a process overseen by Ofgem to move you to a new supplier.

Customers will be contacted soon by their new supplier with more information on how this process will affect them.

Quote:
During this process, all customer contracts will be honoured, so please rest assured that your supply will not be affected

I hope that means I'll get the money I'm in credit back.

Ofgem said it would appoint a new supplier and stressed that outstanding credit balances were protected

Thread title might cause a bit of concern to those of us actually on British Gas.
