Whose unlucky enough to be with British Gas?

And just had a price hike of 9.2%? We have. :(

Apparently price rises from others if they haven't already are on their way. Who is the cheapest, anyone know?

With Scottish Power now but possibly not when I've checked out the alternatives.

Ella, we're talking about natural gas and electricity supplies to our houses here.

Gasoline, which we call petrol - now that's another matter. we pay about $8.50 a gallon last time i did the conversions...you have no idea!!!

Doesn't make much difference. They all work as a cartel anyway, putting up their prices at roughly the same time every autumn, by roughly the same amount. Since it's a regular thing, best option is to lock in the tariff in summer and defer the price rise by a few months.

If you're lucky, by the time the lock comes off, they might have reduced it a fraction to make it worth locking again before the next winter rise.

Finally sat down and looked at Martin Lewis's recommendations. Ended up staying with Scottish Power on their fixed rate till March 2015.
Slightly more expensive than the cheapest ones but a couple of flags about poor customer relations on the cheapos decided me the extra couple of quid was worth it.
The day after Money Saving Expert flags up that the big six are about to pull all the fixed rates so I hope that doesn't apply if you've clicked and applied already (says it takes 5 days to go through and needed to do it by 31st).

I am baffled (not exactly a change for me tbf) but if u had a business, one of six in the field and 4 others raised their prices by 8-10% wouldn't u immediately think...hang on a minute, if I drop mine now by 5% I am gonna get absolutely slammed with new customers...happy days pass the bonus payments if you please?......suggests strongly to me they are all in cahoots and what the Govt said about labours price freeze was right, they will just raise the price b4 they get it.
