All Trials petition

If you sign one petition this lifetime, this should be the one:
http://www.alltrials.net/
As pushed for by Dr Ben Goldacre of Bad Science fame.

If you think that a drug or treatment which causes harm, but which found its way onto the market because the company that made it hid the bad data, shouldn't happen, you should sign this.

If you think that wasting millions of pounds on stockpiling a flu vaccination that didn't work, which could have been spent on improving the sick and injured, you should sign this.

And if you think that governments forking out millions on drugs which are no more effective than generic cheap equivalents, is just wrong, you should sign this.

If you own a drug company, you probably should go start your own anti-petition petition.

A lot of these vaccinations have mercury in the formula, and it does need you to be a rocket scientist to know how dangerous that stuff is, if it gets into your system. I refuse to take any jabs.

I keep getting the `get you flu jab letters from my health centre` as I am over 55 and issued the letters automatically, but it is a sad situation when I believe the jab would do me worse than getting the flu. Years ago you would trust government advice, but not now.

An american link about mercury in flu injections (but it is just the same situation in the UK).

Bandi, I think you should be forced to learn chemistry. Actually any science would be a start. :(

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Bump!

More signatures needed, if you signed already you'll probably have had the email about it.

Facebook link it, tweet it, do whatever you can to put the word out. There are very few things we can do to change the world by signing a petition, but this is actually one of them.

But the real scandal lies with the very people we expect to protect us. It seems some civil servants at medicines regulators still wish for a quiet life, where they can ruminate on secret data behind closed doors, with no or limited academic or public scrutiny over their decisions. This is particularly dangerous when you consider that some of the biggest medical scandals of the past few years – problems with the evidence for Vioxx, Avandia and Tamiflu, for example – were only spotted by independent researchers and academics, often after a long fight for access to information on clinical trials.

The final frontier is delay and denialism at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, the Department of Health and the government. David Cameron, when asked about missing trial results and Tamiflu, at prime minister's questions, explained that he took this problem seriously, and suggested new EU legislation will fix it. This is untrue. New EU legislation – which the industry have been lobbying desperately against – only requires better sharing for trials starting after 2014... The overwhelming majority of treatments prescribed by doctors right now – the everyday drugs for blood pressure, cholesterol, ulcers and more that are taken by millions – all came on the market over the past two decades, not the past seven days. That is the era of evidence that patients need.

Last night MEPs voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new law that will require all drug clinical trials in Europe to be registered and their results reported in a public database.

Your efforts and support have helped make this a win for the AllTrials campaign.

This new law comes into effect in 2016 and as Ben Goldacre, co-founder of the AllTrials campaign, said:

[The new law] does not address the far bigger problem, that we still don’t have full reporting for all trials on the medicines we are using right now, today, medicines which we will continue to use for the foreseeable future.

We need all trials – on all uses of all currently prescribed treatments – to be made available, and urgently. There is no excuse for industry inflicting ongoing harm on patients, and on their own reputation, by continuing to campaign against this position.
