stantz is right - many tricks often appear to be amazing because we accept that everything we see is fine because of the reaction of the viewers actually there.  Sometimes that`s not the case though and they`re in on it - and can just look shocked.
eg this one..

Not seen the lean one but will have a look..

EDIT: you completely changed your post again Pete. :(  When I last looked you said the lean was a crane and a load of other people in on it.  You must be doing some research.. ;)  Did you find how to do the one where you thought he forced the card on the other person?

Nah, still looking. I have two sons and some nephews I want to impress at a BBQ later..

You`re right about the edit, google is a wonderful thing. Also right about that complete hack Angel. Street magic is one thing, but paid audiences and editing in post just defeats the object

Sent you a PM.. :)
....`editing in post`.. - I remember one where the likes of David Blaine walked up to people and they named a card and he had it.  Looked amazing.  Found out later - it`s just odds.  He does it to dozens of people - and they don`t show us that footage.  The time he gets it - we see it...... :(

The thing about the `lean` is, no matter what things you may have in your shoe, up your leg etc. - without some form of anchor into the ground - `Ye cannae change the laws of physics`....  you lean your CoG over and no matter what`s braced, without an anchor, you have to fall over.  Unless there`s a 20stone insert in the toes. ;-)  Maybe that`s it - uranium inserts. ;)

A lot of talk about the Lean on forums warns that if you`re too heavy, or have weak ankles, there`s a good chance you`ll do yourself a serious injury, dislocation or even broken bones aren`t unheard of.

Thanks for the PM, all I needed was the name of the trick. Got that now, so I`m all clued up.

I get all that about injuries etc. - but still can`t see how it wuold work without some form of anchor.

Enjoy - and don`t reveal.....  Getting the name is the hardest thing.. :)

As you say there must be some sort of anchor in the ground and a way to hook his shoe into it, as the Centre Of Gravity would just tip anyone over.

Without giving too much away, when you order `The lean` you have to specify what size shoes you wear, and you have to be prepared to pay a crapload for postage, as the package comes with a metal plate that weighs 70lbs. I`ll wager electromagnets are involved

Just watched Dynamo`s lean, which he performed on a pavement somewhere. I can only guess that that particular area of pavement had either been prepared in advance, which would have been costly and obvious, or there`s already some underground metalwork he took advantage of.

70 lbs of steel in a shoe, does not sound right, as thats a lot of steel.

Even if the shoe had a big electomagnet in it, it would be at least 3 inches in height. Is he wearing platforms ? (and god knows where he is hiding the batteries)

Totally agree bandicoot - and you see them lie back and lift each foot in the air.  70lb is a lot of volume - I think Dynamo was wearing pumps?  Can`t imagine it`s got anything to do with electromagnetism either - that would need a huge amount of power to pass through a layer of ground too.
