Page 1 of Possible New Forum Features

I`ve been thinking about adding more forum features, just wondering what people think, or if they have any of their own. Ones I`m considering:

1) Voting people up or down (like a Karma thing)
2) Forum only site
3) Mobile version of 2)
4) Options to disable things like the news/dvd tickers

A fully working mobile version would be ace. I only ever come here from me phone and whilst not restricted there are a few quirks.

cableforum has a "rep" system, and it has it`s uses, for example if some-one posts a response to a pc query, and they have a high rep, you can tell they usually offer good advice.

however on the minus side, you get the retaliatory neg feedback type thing, and the vote up and down doesn`t differentiate between if you`re giving rep `cos

a) what they said was funny
b) you like them
c) the advice was good
d) you agree with them

etc

so in short I find the whole karma type thing meaningless after a while, it`s good in theory though.

Mobile site would be great...

as for the "karma" thing, i don`t think this site needs it.

I don`t think the members of this site could handle the whole karma thing. There are enough flare ups now. It really can open a can of worms!

Yes, a mobile version would be lovely. And being able to disable all the flashy stuff would be very much appreciated. I hate those tickers!

Ooh, a proper forum would be wonderful because then we should be able to see who is actually online, and also have a PROPER pm system, where you look someone up and send them a message, and have buddies and stuff. Much better. Yes please.

Much better. Yes pleaseI think yer workload just increased from "remove the reviews n stuff to just leave the Forums" to "Do a new site as per Smurfy`s requirements" :D

the news ticker, has next previous buttons, it would be good if the reviews had that to. I know there aren`t may reviews in the reviews ticker, but it annoys me if one catches  my eye that I have to wait for it to come round again :)
