Page 2 of Vauxhall Astra - Removing the radio, or not as the case is!!!

Does anyone know if the station info etc which displays on the dash on Vauxhallls is lost if you replace the standard radio /tape player with say a new Sony Cd/tuner ?

The RDS info is - you can get it to default to the date/time if you un-plug one of the wires. I think it`s the orange one (although to be honest that`s just a guess ;) )

Had the same trouble with mine . the way I managed it was to put the keys in press one set back at one end while carefully prizing out with a small screwdriver came out no bother did same at other end and mine was in solid

I fear the initial problem might have been resolved quite some time ago

Funny this popped up now as that car bit the dust a few weeks ago!

It was either stolen or the DVLA towed it away off a private car parking bay!  I lent it to a friends younger brother and he failed to get the V5 put back across in my name so started getting loads of fines off the DVLA last year.  Must be these laws on failing to sorn/tax/insure a car!
