GameCube back-up discs

whilst searching through google for 3 inch dvds, i came across the following.

"Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will debut a 3-inch "pocket DVD," a first for the major studios, on its first anime release, Metropolis. The mini-DVD will carry an hour of special features and is packaged with a regular-sized DVD that offers the film."

and also

"The DZ-MV100A camcorder ($2,000), the first of its kind, shows off the versatility of digital technology by letting you save MPEG-2 video and JPEG stills on a 3-inch DVD-RAM disc."

looks like 3 inch blank dvds would become available to the public, which could then be burnt on any home pc. Meaning that the anti pirate backup gamecube games dont seem all that full proof anymore.

I doubt if the gamecubes antipiracy measures rely solely on a 3-inch disc.

"ha ha ha, they`ll never copy one of these little discs"--nintendo boffin

Bye the wayside--dabs are doing those blank discs for 25 quid a piece

I`m sure people will find a way to copy Gamecube games. Remember when Sega released the Dreamcast with 1gig GDROMs? Many people thought Sega were safe from piracy. People have been copying DC titles for two years now.

I`d give the GameCube 6 months max before copies are available.

Of course pirating games is wrong and halms game developers as well as many other people... blah blah blah - you`ve heard it all before.

I heard they`ve already done it, but requires a Casing Mod that will allow full size Cd`s/dvds to be placed into the console.

and the way the copy them is similar to the way Dreamcast are copied, you need to place a dummy file on the disk to compinsate for the casing lost so the data is in the centre of the CD/DVD.

Dunno if this is true, nor do i condone copyright infringment...

This is not possible

The Gamecube discs are written clockwise from the outside edge in, as opposed to normal CDs/DVDs which read from the inside to the outer edge.

"Hope this helps"
