Non-Steam redemption...

Si Wooldridge (Reviewer) posted this on Tuesday, 19th May 2015, 20:23

Not a happy bunny for the second time in a month.

CD Projekt have gone the same road as Rockstar in that there is no redemption of a game code to add Witcher 3 to your Steam library.

One of the great things over the last few years has been picking up boxed versions of games from Amazon for much less than the digital copy and then just downloading them from Steam.

Can't believe I'm not stuck in front of the PC doing another 40+GB disc install rather than just setting off a download and leaving it until it's finished.

Four, although bizarrely the fourth one installed something pitifully small and quick compared with the other three...

Oh and then when I check the actual game folder after the install, it's only taking up 25GB.

Grand Theft Auto V is 65GB, oh how my 6Mb connection wept...

As for The Witcher 3, there should have been a code in the box for redemption via GOG.com's DRM-free platform, if it was the convenience of downloading that you missed. It does suck that Steam versions can only be bought on Steam, though. £50 for a game...

There was a download code but the instructions weren't clear and I thought that was for the free DLC they are offering rather than downloading the whole game - only afterwards when I installed Gog Galaxy that I realised...
