Though this implies the losses were because of other devisions and the PS3 side made a profit:

Heh, I`m reminded of an old class sketch all of a sudden, involving John Cleese and the two Ronnies. :)

The final hack:

Sony is waking up to a new PlayStation 3 security nightmare after a day in which a brand new, PSN-enabled custom firmware was released for hacked consoles, swiftly followed up by publication of the console`s LV0 decryption keys - which some say blows the system wide open.

The release of the new custom firmware - and the LV0 decryption keys in particular - poses serious issues. While Sony will almost certainly change the PSN passphrase once again in the upcoming 4.30 update, the reveal of the LV0 key basically means that any system update released by Sony going forward can be decrypted with little or no effort whatsoever.

Time for them to rush the PS4 to market?

i thinks it`s been blown out of proportion again tbh.

pretty sure you have to downgrade the PS3`s FW to 3.55 in order for this
"new" hack to work, and that`s not that simple either.

Oh FFS!
4.30 update live already and once again, to play another 2 games of MW3 I need to download the damn thing taking almost as much time as I`ll actually play for!

All they had to do was re-instate Linux and most of the hackers weren`t interested in the console....

Agreed, Jimbo. There are very few things in life more infuriating than a PS3 update.

Been reading that a 4.xx > 3.55 downgrader is on the cards pretty soon.

Think the PS3`s security is pretty mullered now!
