Page 1 of Dungeons (PC)
Gaming and Consoles Forum
Was anyone else looking forward to this? As a fan of the Dungeon Keeper series (even if it did chug once you`d been playing it for a few hours and render itself unplayable) I was. :(

Gamespot hated it. :/

Damn, my missus will be gutted it she sees that, as she loves that series as well, i think she still plays DK2 now and again!
She was over the moon with the "Horny" figurine I bought her one birthday/Christmas before we lived together!
lol, just checked, that`s in our bedroom, next to a Link, a gremlin, an Adipo and Wall-E. Her Alien, Duke Nukem figurines etc are boxed somewhere, so that one must be special!
a couple of other reviews not slating it so much

Does look like Gamespot were perhaps harsh. Though I`d be happier about it if people gave it 80-85% rather than in the 70s.

queue the whole "are games too expensive" debate
it`s about £22 which to me is too much to take a chance. 10-15, not so bad, if it sucks it`s annoying, but like going to cinema and seeing a crap film.
demo had downloaded, I`ll install for missus to judge.
On that argument, I would say, no they aren`t. Because no game ever completely sells out, you can always buy them later on cheaper if you don`t want to pay full price.

Just played the demo, thought it was ok, I got bogged down and a bit confused workign out what I was meant to be doing, but I think I used to do that in DK2 tutorials :)

If missus enjoys demo, will wait for bargain bin, which if reviews carry on like that, won`t be long :(

Once you`ve found them, you can build pentagrams that act as spawn points for specific monsters, and then they just stand by and wait for heroes to come along. There's no way to command your minions, barring the non-combative builder/collector goblins that can only be ordered to dig somewhere. Your Dungeon Lord avatar is the only one you can control directly, which means he ends up having to do everything.
I thought that was just me doing it wrong, or later on in the game you could :( I seem to remember in DK2 you couldn`t really control them(unless you possessed one), but could pick them up and put them where you wanted?
reading some of the comments Overlord was mentioned, I remember seeing adverts for that and it looked good, did you play that? I forgot all about it.

You could move them about a bit and often had to as they`d go wandering. I also vaguely remember in DK that some minions didn`t get on with each other, and this was a good way to break them up?
I might have to just give the whole experience a miss, unless it turns up for £2.99 on Steam anyway.

So, it never managed to capture that feel of Dungeon Keeper, it just had too many different mechanics. But there are hopes that Dungeons 2 will fix that...
