Jersey Boys

I'm a big fan of musicals and musical films but more importantly I'm kind of a fan of a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons through constant plays of records by my parents growing up. I've also loved pretty much anything directed by Clint Eastwood until now.

Jersey Boys is actually quite a decent film if you want to know the basic story of the rise and fall of Frankie and the Four Seasons but as a film lover it falls short. I enjoyed what I seen at the cinema but I left wanting to know so much more.

What you get from Jersey Boys is the story, as even a casual fan, you will already know without the personal touch of knowing each characters individual motivations. (How did Tommy end up in almost a million pounds worth of debt to a loan shark we only ever see him borrow £3500 from?)

The cast is solid including maybe an over acted lead who landed the part from his stage credentials (plus he's possibly the only person in the world who looks and sounds like Frankie) but Eastwood seems to be be phoning this in. It would be great as a TV movie but as a cinena release is definitely left wanting.

Like i said, it's an enjoyable film for what it is but no biographical film should leave you wikipediaing for answers afterwards.
