RE: [VIDEO] Chris Nolans - Interstellar
Spectacular, thrilling and peppered with humour (mostly TARS), this was easily one of the best films of the year. It is let down slightly by some clunky dialogue and an overly contrived final act, but the flaws were barely anything compared to its achievements. I loved that Nolan told Zimmer to knock it off with the ostinatos He really delivered this time and made up for that godawful crap that he composed for Spoderman.
Having now read the summary of the original script, I'm glad they changed it. That monstrosity would have been unfilmable.

RE: [VIDEO] Chris Nolans - Interstellar
Just got back. Not bad, too long, too loud, and tried to be too smart for the ending. Well made movie, the planets look ok, but it won't win any awards.

RE: [VIDEO] Chris Nolans - Interstellar
Just watched this, I really enjoyed it.
I can see why others didn't, in much the same way some people find 2001: A Space Oddysey or A.I. boring.
But I enjoyed it.

Will watch 2001 after the screaming apes scene which goes on far too long to make a point about the obilisk, but once that bone flies up in the air and we get a spaceship and music, WOW!
I found A.I. a very sad story, especially the ending. Wonder why I keep it in my DVD collection.
Not seen 'Interstellar', been caught out with a few of these space films, piad the cinema price and was dissapointed, so will wait til its DVD is £1.50 in a charity shop.
RE: [VIDEO] Chris Nolans - Interstellar
I'm a sucker for an 'existential' sci-fi, so I like all these films.
Worth consideration: The Spike Jonze directed (therefore quirky) "Her". Set in the near-future, a man (played by the excellent Joaquin Phoenix) falls in love with his female voiced operating system. No, really. It's got a very Woody Allen meets Siri feel about it. It's good though.
RE: [VIDEO] Chris Nolans - Interstellar
I think...
SPOILER:
the idea was that he was in a place where normal physics didn't apply (different dimension?) so would be utterly incomprehensible to everyday human existence. So the 'aliens' helping him tried to make this world relatable to him. However, it was still a bit off kilter (floating around behind a bookcase) because they found it difficult to relate to us lesser beings living in only 4 dimensions. Or something. Result: a bit M. Knight Shyamalan
SPOILER:
Yeah, apparently according to 'theoretical physics' etc. it was all quite realistic - especially the seriously warped sense of time.Still confusing though.
