Alpha papa (The Alan Partridge Movie)

For no reason other than I had a morning to kill, I popped along to see the first showing of this flick. It`s nice, fairly simple, shoestring budget, and  gives the awesome Colm Meaney a starring role. If you`ve seen the trailer, you`ll know the plot, and it doesn`t progress much more than that as most of the flick is taken up by Alan being Alan, and while I`ve never been a stalwart fan of the TV shows, the film transition is deftly done, nothing too brash or in your face. Mind you, Steve`s made his name in Hollywood so he doesn`t need to sell himself over there, and it`s nice to see him take a step backwards to acknowledge the fans who helped him on his way up

Nice flick, watch if cheap, but i won`t be buying the home version. It`s not that memorable

I'm afraid Mr Coogan and his creation come under the heading of clever but not funny.
One of those people who I can appreciate the skill and intelligence of what he does and I can even see why others find it funny.
Does nowt at all for me though.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Saw it last night and enjoyed it. Quite a few laugh out loud moments, although a lot of that was probably because of the communal viewing experience (I often laugh at things in the cinema that I merely chuckle at when watching at home).

Not something I would buy, but I laughed more than I did at The World's End...

I am not a Steve Coogan fan at all, so no intentions of wanting to see it. Yet on TV at the moment there is a short TV series called `The Trip` with him and Roy Robson (well known Welsh actor) doing the rounds of fancy resturants in the Lake District, and the banter between them is so hilarious.

As for the food, well they seem to get at least 9 designer portions of minisule food and miniture cups of soup, which you or I would see as 90% plate and 10% food, swallowed down by loads of bottles of wine, and then get hit for a massive bill.

Even if I had the lottery up, I would still think I was ripped off!

Good job they were getting the bil paid by the TV company, as part of the story

The Trip with ROb Brydon was brilliant, largely improvised I think, and showed they`re not afraid to take the mick out of themselves, or how they`re perceived :)

Did anyone ever see `Humain Remains` with Rob Brydon and Julia Davis from some years ago? Before either of them made it `big` so it was largely unnoticed. Absolutely brilliant.

Yes seen `human remains`, it was good (2000 was the date).

Another good one which is now on DVD as a BBC drama was `Cruse of the gods`, about a Sc-fi convention on a Cruise ship, and the old TV show called `the children of castor` have the old cast appearing as the stars,  starring Rob Brydon (got his name right this time, as I read off the back of the DVD case ), also Steve Coogan, David Walliams, and James Corden. It is funny, witty and sad at the same time.
