I watched it on Netflix in HD the other day (looked surprisingly good) and it held up fairly well. Never knew it was directed by the bloke who did Re-Animator and From Beyond before then either.

Saw this tonight - Kaiju-sized grin on my face throughout. Really good fun, amazing effects, and - most amazing of all - good 3D. Not bad for a film starring people best known for Queer as Folk and Eastenders.
Seriously though, it really is very enjoyable. It`s like a forty-eight year-old man set out to make a film for twelve-year-olds (or at least people who are that age at heart). Oh wait, it is exactly that! It`s what Transformers should have been, rather than those terrible Michael Bay films we suffered.

I`m really split on this. I enjoyed the visuals, and Idris, but wasn`t a fan of the chliched characters, which amounted to the entire cast. best thing it had going for it was Bay wasn`t allowed to direct. God knows what kind of cluster**** we`d have been given instead.
And how, exactly, do you `forget` you`ve got a sword, and how do you `forget` radiation shielding?
