Just saw this today and have to say i was incredibly disappointed :( I thought Lois was in it way too much, they would have been better calling it Lois Lane featuring Superman, Kevin Costner was completely wasted....Crowe was as per magnificent and I enjoyed the parts with him in the movie...now some gripes....everyone knows Clark is superman, i didnt buy him as superman, didnt look like him, no curl..( i know i know but the curl is superman ffs), very little humour in the movie...
SPOILER:
Why did the general and his crew get an "off world sentence" it made no sense with the world dying, surely they knew they were leaving them to be the only living Kryptonians? duh...

Saw it today with family in tow ($28 -2D, no ads, 3 trailers, 1/3rd full & into the film) at our local fleapit (old style North American cinema, so I had the kid in front of me & his quiff in my view a few times).

At times I thought Okotoks could have been switched for Smallville during the film, which is odd as High River down the road was the location shoot for Smallville in the Donner films ).

Enjoyed it a tad humourless perhaps given the source material, but it brought Supes up to date with a edge, elements\\back story\\plot points made sense subtlly (breathing (both sides of the equation), overwhelmed by supersenses.

The CK glasses thing, really wouldn`t last long as a disguise in this age, given how little time it took Lois to find him in the first place (ppl have been found quicker on the internet from one ill advised picture & info relayed to law enforcement).

The asian\\indian guy at the "anomoly\\Kryptonian" ship site, looked familer, DW, SG1/A/U or something else, normally good at that sort of thing.  Any info?

He played Emil Hamilton in Smallville and he also had a major role in Battlestar Galactica (Felix Gaeta).

Saw this last Friday, and really enjoyed it. My only complaint with the reboot is the irony of Superman wanting to protect humans whilst simultaneously managing to destroy half of every city/village he fought in.

It's a bit hard to believe hundreds of people wouldn't suffer collateral damage in those fights.

Also why does Hollywood now have to destroy so much in every blockbuster movie? Remember Independance Day and the effects being wow? Now every director seems to treat that level as the absolute bare minimum destruction for a single scene.

But anyway, that aside, on the basis nobody can be as perfectly cast as Christopher Reeve, the Brit done good!

Great soundtrack and 7.1 mix too.

Loved this. Absolutely loved it. But I do agree with many of Rob's points above. I get the need for the destruction in the movie but it was a bit too much, and the end was too long as well. But otherwise I thought it was a bang-on revival of the hero. Cavill was way more impressive than Reeve imo, but that's another discussion!

Zimmer's new score was awesome too. I bought the CD.

Just got round to watching this (yeah I know, late to the party).
Before I watched it, I tried to watch the Christopher Reeve's movies. Never got to the end of the 3rd, found all 3 way too camp & silly.
I was impressed as a kid, wish now I hadn't gone back.
As for this film, on the whole I liked it. A 7-1/2 out of 10 sort of film.
But I agree with you RJS, way to many movies are using "well we can destroy anything with cgi so lets do that!".
