I`m baffled why they think they have to keep rebooting the story.  We know who Superman is.  We know how he got here.  Move along.

For that matter I wonder why anybody does reboots - why can`t we just come in on a story?  Why do we have to be told the whole interminable set-up of who the hero is and what he does again and again?

Yes, that is Hans Zimmer`s Superman theme. I quite like it, although I look forward to hearing it in its regular form (ie, not overly orchestrated for the trailer).

Bucketful of "meh" for me. Like I said before, why reboot. Why get rid of John William`s magnificent theme (just reorchestrate it, maybe)? Why go for the sick-superman colour scheme of Superman 3? Are they embarrassed of the character`s comic book roots?

Why can`t somebody do a hit-the-ground-running Superman story that`s true to the spirit of the character, not some oh-we`re-too-sophisticated-for-that reimagining?

Complete opposite for me. Superman was in desperate need of a massive reboot imho, and I`m a huge fan of the original films. He`s the number one original superhero, but carried too much 70`s baggage which made the character and his world untouchable for decades. Proof of that to me was Superman Returns, which even in 2006, nearly 30 years on, felt the need to reference the Donner/Reeve films.

The trailer looks amazing to me, and the score sounds fantastic. It seems to tick all the boxes for me. I don`t think this will be too big for it`s (red) boots, and will deliver a true comic book but modern Superman. I can`t wait. It`s the only film i want to see this year.

Early reviews from quite a few different places have said it`s really good and will be one of the films of the summer.

Personally

- Never liked Superman, he`s just too good.  When I was younger obviously liked the originals, but have not watched since I was a kid and don`t really want to either.

- I do like a lot of Zack Snyder`s films. Quite like the cast in this, so intrigued enough to watch it.



Think it makes more sense to reboot Superman from the point of view that that Superman 2 came out in 1980 and that when they tried a continuation in 2006 it didn`t take too well to the box offices.

I`d rather it was a quick origins though and just had Superman established for the main part of the film (they way they should have gone for Spiderman aswell).

I don`t mind them showing the origin story again, as it`s really good anyway and is necessary to cement Crowe as Jor-El into the film. Also, it`s not like the Batman films haven`t shown the origin story repeatedly over the years, and they got away with it. It`s not what you do, but how you do it that counts.

13 minutes featurette. They`re really going to town on the trailers and TV spots, but hopefully they`re not giving away too much...

Writer`s Release

`Tis out today, and I`ve got the day off work because I`m a sad sack! Simply have to see this, and ideally in a huge IMAX thing without any annoying teenagers ruining it for me. Got to wait for a furniture delivery first (bloody missus got wind of me taking the day, d`oh!) but with any luck I`ll get in before they get out of school.
