Got mine last week and almost forgot about it. I think I should stick it to the dresser in the kitchen. Hopefully the Minstrels will be in plentiful supply.

No minstrels but you get a free bag of popcorn with the Virgin showings :)

Anyway, the film was brilliant. I was surprised how good it was, as I was worried they may have used all the good bits in the trailer, and 90odd mins of fart jokes and a teddy bear swearing would get tired, but glad to say the excellent homage to 80s kids films worked really well. I`m sure on repeated viewings would pick up more and more references, and hear jokes missed from laughing so much.

It was in one of the smallest screens, but was packed and everyone seemed to like it.

Conversely, when i got my ticket, it was due to be in one of the average size screen, but due to the sheer numbers, it got bumped to one of the 2 larger screens, and it was packed.

Laughed a lot, cringed a lot. Glad they showed Ted`s integration into society at the start, I`d have hated for them to just expect us to believe the planet just accepted a talking bear.

Loved the constant 80`s gags, from Ringtones to the whole flash Gordon thing (including the soundtrack - awesome in a movie theatre)

I will say, i found the whole `cut to the chase` piece tacked-on, which was the point in the 20`s, but then, like now, it was just used as a way to finish the movie when no-one could figure out a better way to do it.

Also, it errs on the `People shouting is comedy. people swearing is comedy` angle slightly too much. It can be funny, but it depends on the situation. Especially if it`s patrick Stewart

Props must go to the cast. It reminded me a little of Mark Hamill & Yoda in ESB. Everything rode on Mark`s performance accepting Yoda as a living being, and everyone in the movie plays so well against Ted, (especially Mila), it`s very easy to forget there`s nothing there.

That said, it`s a brainless movie. No plot, not really likeable characters and relies too heavily on fart and crap gags. This is not ACTUALLY the 80`s, we`re over that. Spending millions on a CGI bear is a gimmick, a funny gimmick, but in years to come, future generations will not look back on this with the same fondness as we do films like Blazing Saddles. Likeable characters, solid plot, plus a fart gag that works

I`d have hated for them to do the usual "only you can see me" shtick.  I agree you couldn`t simply have everybody accept a talking teddy bear without at least one person passing comment, but avoiding the "invisible friend" cliche is refreshing.

Definitely a title on my pre-order list, I think.

It was okay. Closer to Family Guy than American Dad! humour-wise, which is to be expected given that the former is still inexplicably more popular than the latter. Some decent laughs, but in true MacFarlane fashion a lot of the gags were pushed past breaking point. At least five Family Guy regulars in the cast, and Patrick Stewart stole the show for me. His voice lends gravitas to any subject, even Apache helicopters.

The screening was very busy for an Unlimited event. The manager came in and made a very awkward little speech before the film started (mentioned the forthcoming Total Recall screening on the 23rd), and afterwards we were all asked to fill out a questionnaire. I got my Minstrels, so I was happy.
