The whole object thing was the subject of many of the viral sites that sprung up around the release.
i must be the only one that hated it
I hated it too :), and hate isnt strong enough for this pile of poo
watched it again last night, & to be fair i didn`t think it sucked as bad as the first time around ;)
i can`t even really say it`s a bad movie, as it fits into it`s genre very well (blair witch type reality tv mockumentary) but as i don`t really like the genre in general, it`d be pointless me saying it`s either good or bad, i`m not gonna appreciate it either way, just not my cuppa tea. but it was well made & well filmed.

Dug it out and watched it last night, a lazy film.SPOILER:
Godzilla (remake) crossed with Blair Witch.
Have Big Monster so that it can knock big buildings down and make it idestructable so it can knock more and more big building down.
Have lots of small monsters so they can chase them around inside the buildings the big monster as not yet managed to knock down.
Have lots of stupid young people who we can kill.
Dont have a ending and dont have a story and copy the creatures all of which in my eyes have been used in other films.
Like I said a lazy film. :/

I loved Cloverfield, definitely one to show off your surround sound system.
Not sure how you can call it lazy given the brilliant level of effects composition, sound and effects design, editing and even the acting/screenplay, which usually takes a hit in big blockbuster films. It was a breath of fresh air in a year of utter bilge remakes and sequels.
Also, Michael Giacchino`s music in the end credits is a very fitting tribute to Akira Ifukube`s original Godzilla theme.
The film seems to get more credit for its sound than any thing else, and as for remake how about changing the film title to "Godzilla In New York"...Now we have another remake. :(

I`m not exactly sure what you wanted from the film as your grievances tend to be against giant monster movies in general?
Although, saying that did you like King Kong (Peter Jackson one)? As I thought that was s***e, because I couldn`t stand the giant gorilla falling in love with the woman stuff.
As my general opinion is if there was a massive monster it would run around destroying stuff like buildings.
Your alternative is not destroying buildings and therefore going down the love story route or:
You don`t want it to be indestructable so it`s a 15minute short film where it dies as soon as the US army turn up, or alternatively to have 75minutes of character building before it turns up?

It was not a review, I leave that to people that think their opinions are more valid then other peoples, it was my honest thoughts about the film, then posted on a thread called Cloverfield......Why the hostility ..... :/
If I had been given this film to watch with no hype or title attached and asked what I had watched I would have said a remake of a Godzilla film ........And like the trendy critis that hyped it up its not as clever or important in the world of films as it thinks it is....... :/
