RE: [VIDEO] Remake of Robocop coming to a cinema near you

I'm hardly surprised the new movie's aimed at the Beavis & Butthead brigade. The original's special effects are a bit clunky for today's CGI-generated audiences, I suppose and the corporate-world-is-bad message won't suit the Hollywood Machiavellis.

It's not bad, just a total waste of time.  When I say not bad, I mean it's competently made BTW. There is no primary antagonist - certainly no Boddicker or Jones type character - the satire is incredibly weak, the action is bland, there are no memorable lines... It's just a generic, kiddie-friendly movie. I guess it could have been a lot worse though. It could have been I, Frankenstein.

Found out today that it's directed by Jose Padilha, so I'm more interested in this now than I was...

Love the original and found this remake perfectly acceptable. Nowhere near as good as the 1987 flick, but it updates everything to make a nice little sci-fi action romp with just enough brains to justify its own existence.

SPOILER:
Found the scene where it is revealed to Murphy how much of his body remains to be very effective.

Apparently the newly remastered Blu-ray original is at Sainsburys in store for £10, but I suspect it will be much lower once we've all forgotten there was a remake in two months time.

Ahem, from my post of Jan 29th:

Word has it that Sainsbury's have the new remastered RoboCop in stores for £10. That's £6 cheaper than their online store and the lowest price I've found!

I always suspected I was talking to myself on here! ;)
