RE: [VIDEO] Remake of Robocop coming to a cinema near you

The boxed set with all three can be had for around a tenner Rob, so if you like RC 2 it's worth a punt as that looks pretty good for an older master, but then the DVD was incredibly poor so the upgrade probably looks more substantial than it actually is. RC 3 also looks okay compared to the DVD, but it's such a terrible film...

I don't remember thinking much of 2 at all. :/ I keep seeing the box set cheap but I almost actively don't want the other two films! It's like the Jurassic Park box set.

I currently have the US Criterion DVD, but I'm sure the UK Blu-ray is better.

Pffffffffffffffft it's just a rip off of Dredd anyways ;)

Actually there was an article not so long ago about the original Dredd movie releases and how it was all going etc., then out came the other movie that was racing against them and Robocop won the race.

In terms of resolution yeah, but the Criterion has the director-approved ratio and colour timing. Just annoying that it's a non-anamorphic disc.

We get this robocop rubbish again, and yet when you think of all the brilliant Science fiction books that would be great films but cannot be funded, like 'Rendevous with Rama' by Athur C Clark, and has the backing of Morgan Freeman, who has tried to get it made and would star in it, yet he just cannot get the amount of cash to make it due to the massive CGI that would be needed to visulise the alien cylinder. Pity.

Other great Si-fi books that would also be fantastic epic films are....

Forever war.
Ringworld.

Second trailer doesn't make the film look so redundant...

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Yeah, I like the bits with Michael Keaton in, I blinked and missed Gary Oldman, had to watch it again to realise he was the doctor.

But the second half when it got all action sequence filled, made me go meh again.

Plus I doubt it will have the dirty cold nastiness which was a big part of what made the original so great. That and no matter what the director says at the beginning, Robocop is not a film looking for a remake. :/

Why can't they ever just take a bad old movie and make it good?

So injured in the line of duty equates to blown up while checking on his car? I hope that's a bit of misdirection in the trailer.
