I am of the train of thought that cant understand the double standards of the use of the word n*****. Black people can say it and its fine but if white people say it, it suddenly takes on negative connotations. What if a black comic had started yelling racist insults to a white person? I honestly think it wouldn`t have caused anywhere near the commotion that this has. Niger has nothing to do with black people anyway, it merely means "ignorant". It has just taken on extra connotations as people saw fit to add to it. I`ve not seen that much of Michael Richards stand-up but, from what I recall, his routine wasn`t so good. However, if he isn`t funny on stage as a stand-up, why hurl abuse at him? The thing is, we have not seen the entire routine that night either, just the nasty bit which is a shame as, as it stands, it is taken out of context.
Making a presumption here but he doesn`t look too good either. I mean, people call him "Kramer" all the time, even on the tape you here a woman asking "Kramer" not to leave the stage. He isn`t Kramer! Imagine being called by someone else`s name over time and see what it does to you. Happened to me at school and it drove me crazy enough to want to fight the person I was being called by! He said he was going to do some "personal work". Good luck to him I say!
As for Seinfeld, he is a money hogging Jew!! I`m not racist but his actions have fitted in perfectly with the stereotype. If anyone saw the Opera "comeback special" you could see and feel the tension between them. Jason (George) never sat next to Jerry and it all seemed so fake. I wonder why Seinfeld was really cancelled? Was it creativity or simply money? Having read the article about the money war, I agree with Jason. There is no WAY an actor should be getting $1million per episode (look what the cast of Friends did!) but to hog the cash like Jerry did over the syndication and then try it again on the DVDs was crazy. Greed seemed to get the better of Jerry and what has he done since? Some Superman commercials?
So, give Michael a break and don`t jump on the bandwagon. Give it some thought and come to your own conclusion without the idiotic media telling you how to feel.

OK, again I will try and stop this. To let you know, I am going to still do the course but try and do most of it from Oz now so forget the grant. Yes, 6 grand would have been wonderful as I wouldn`t have to worry about ANY financial problems that will arise from this. No, I have no saving/cash, no I have nowhere to live back home. Yes, I am still a bit angry about how this turned out as every single time I communicated with my Uni and training agency, they KNEW I wasn`t in the UK at the time but told me I could apply for the grant, hence, why I decided to apply as I knew I wouldn`t be able to afford it otherwise. I am still paying off my old student loans. The fact that I have lived and worked in the UK escapes most people, I just happened to have been out for the past 2 years. Does this mean all the taxes I paid are null and void? What about the people I have funded through education? I am not questioning the importance of Japanese over other subjects either. There happens to be a demand for language teachers in the UK right now and, in my opinion, language teachers are FAR more valuable than religious teachers and taking a language lesson is more productive than spending an hour or something practising hymns in choir practice! Whatever, this is the way things have gone and that is that. I hold my hands up and admit I made a mistake by not going in September but, as I say, I didn`t know that this would eliminate me from the funding process. Bear in mind that some of the people that got this money, don`t need it at all and WILL just p*** it away!

My original, unhelpful replies were not on serious matters and, if they were, they were to people I knew anyway. They expected that from me.
Comparing Russian to Japanese to like apples and oranges. Do you have any games consoles? Interested in the latest in technology? Being here, I think you are interested in things from Japan. Languages are not "trendy", they are essential. Just because we speak English, we are lazy and think everyone else should speak English.
Yes, Im 30 with no money to speak of. Reason? joined Uni when I was 21, left when I was 25, spent a couple of years in UK working and waiting for my ex to finish Uni to go back to Japan. Go back and she f***s me over, leaving me with no money.
I admit Im not a current UK resident, but, as I state, I was never told I had to be in the UK to START the course. Thats all the wanted, me to be there when I "started" despite the fact they have told me I can do the course anywhere in the world I want.
I am NOT saying that I am the pooresr person in the world, boo-hoo, give me sympathy etc. and I am not going to give you my life story. I needed the money, not so I could get p***ed, buy a car and take a holiday, I needed it to COME HOME!!!! Looking at some of the answers here, it really opens your eyes to how close-minded some people are. But I worked this out some time ago. I thank others for their comments. Let that be the end of it.

Thanks for the advice I got and not for the stupid comments from others.
I already have the degree in Japanese so I don`t need to go back to Uni for that. Japanese my not be as popular as French or German in schools but there is a need for it considering its importance in today`s world. I`m not sure why this course wont run again, it was something to do with the fact they couldn`t guarantee the quality of teachers in the future.
Im still waiting for a reply from my appeal but, as much as I will admit I should have startedin September, I was NEVER told that if I didn`t, I may not get any funding. I intended to be back in the UK to do the course anyway so I would have had all the contact with the Uni I needed. This is my point, in order to come back and actually DO the course and have a place to live, I needed the funding. Without it, I`m in a HUGE pile of trouble as I am still paying off my student loans from when I was at Uni 4years ago!

As I mentioned before, I just happened to be out of the country when the course started. I have lived in the UK for about 25 years with 5 years out.
In ALL the info I was given, NOWHERE does it state that, in order to do an internet course, I had to be in England. The internet exists outside of England so I thought there would be no problem until they told me AFTER I had delayed the course start date. I would have been willing to start in September IF they had told me about the funding.
I know it is means tested but, considering I dont have a home to live in, no saving and no possessions in the UK, I thought I would have got it.
I have emailed my complaints to the Uni, with no reply yet. So, for you arses out there that think all students drink and do no work etc, kiss my arse! I have battled more than you can imagine to get this far. Education, it seems, is to be reserved for the rich. Why should we have to pay for what should be free? If someone told you you would have to pay a fortune to educate your kids, would you be happy to cough up> I dont think so.

Not that I need to convince you but, FYI, I am British and just happen to be out of the country when the course started as I was working in Japan. The government have a lack of teachers in 3 subjects and desperately need people to enter the public, rather than private, education system. Most Maths, Science and Language teacher would get far more cash doing that. I, on the other hand, don`t want to be part of a private system being working class myself. Just because people are rich, it DOES NOT mean they deserve a "better" education. I have no house to live in back home, no savings and no possessions since my parents divorced. My plans in life were blown away when I was f***ed over by my ex. The money would have enabled me to do the course and educate kids that deserve equal treatment and a fair chance in life.
Is that good enough for you all?
PS: I pay taxes too. Its not like you will be personally financing my education. If you have ever struggled for money in life or to get through years of Uni education, you`d know how hard it is when you cant work full time to finance yourself for food or clothes!

No education grant for me. The reason?

I applied to be a Japanese teacher, was accepted on the course and fully registered. Circumstances dictated that I had to delayed the start of the part time, internet based course until February. This was accepted by the University and everything was going well. I then enquired about the Secondary School Subject Short (or something) scheme which meant that I would have received 6 grand for doing this course (they need Maths, Science and Language teachers).
Keeping up so far? Good. Now, AFTER all the documentation went though, I was ONLY THEN informed that, because I wasn`t in the country and not actually doing the course, that I Had to wait until round 2 of funding and only then would they know if they had any money left to give! I was a bit peed at this but thought I would be OK. I emailed the other day and they told me that 11 people had applied and there was nothing left!
How angry am I?! In ALL the documents I was given, it states that I can get this money. In the application for, I fulfil ALL the categories need to apply. Yet the Uni tells me to it obvious I couldn`t apply coz I wasn`t in the UK and had not started the course despite being registered! Its and on-line course and I can take up to 5 years to do if if I wanted to.
The best bit? It was the ONLY Uni in England to do this course and it was also, to add the icing to the cake, in its FINAL YEAR which means I cant just apply again.
I have sent an email, but I expect nothing from it. My future has just fallen away even more....

I did use Live MSN for a while but it never worked all the time. Refusing to log on, telling em my internet was broken etc. so I went back to 7.5. I am using the IE tab now, despite the fact that its not automatic when I tell it to open hotmail in IE but there you go. I wont cry over it! Why is LIVE so crap anyway?

Had the japanese one on the day it was released, being in Osaka helps, and its great. It can seem a bit samey, so to speak but its still fun. However, playing wi-fi/download is a but crap if your opponent gets the invisible option as they just blast you to bits coz its lasts for ages!

Washu, Washu...Where and what happened to Washu?

Washu was destroyed a year and a half ago by forces beyond his control, well, sort of. Yet he has returned in a new form. He is sat in a train station in Osaka with a massive headache making use of the free internet signal his new flashy PC can pick up and his navy DS lite in his bag. But not for much longer as he will be legging it to Oz soon before he loses his mind completely by all that surrounds him.
What has Washu learnt in his time in Japan from Jan 2003? First and foremost is to NEVER trust women and never let ANYONE take advantage of you, no matter how much it may bother you be it work, a friend or your partner in life. Secondly, dont be so judgemental as I was. It may be funny at times but it sure as well works against you too. Thirdly, WATCH OUT! There is always gonna be someone out to get you!
Bit of an odd post for my return here but Im bored and hope that coming back here might be fun again, for a while..

I have this for the GBA. Its not the new Ultra one and maybe that is why I am having problems. I cant work out out to use the powerwriter software very well. I cant delete the card and I cant delete the games I want to. Any better software out there or a better explanation on how to use it would be helpful, thanks.

Stop messenger signing me in

So, when I turn my PC on, no matter what, its signs me into messenger. Even when I sign on using a different email account, it still says im online with my other email and tells me that I just signed in! I have adjusted the options to tell it not to run messenger when i log onto windows, but it does not save it. What can I do?

ATI Radion 9800 Pro problem

When I installed SP2 the entire PC froze up and needed re-installing. Now I just have SP1 on yet the moment I turn the resolution past 800 by 600, the PC freezes and crashes. When it re-boots, it tells me to update the display drivers even though I have the lastest ones installed! Any idea how I can solve this as VGA mode sucks!

It was AWFUL! If the one I saw was the final cut, and it looked VERY finished, then the BBC should put this on CBBC. Why use the crappy old music? Why use BGM from the 80`s and then OVERUSE it? I turned to Firefox a bit ago and have a couple of grips with it. 1) Pages seem to load a bit slower than in IE. I did the little speed up Mozilla thing as well. 2) For some reason, it likes to select other programs I have running from the little taskbar at the bottom. EG, if I want to minimize Firefox, it might ignore me and select MSN instead. Or the reverse can happen so if I am typing an email, I suddenly find Im not typing anything anymore and have to click on the browser window again. IE never did this to me. The only thing I find useful is the tabs so I dont have a whole bunch of windows in the taskbar. Everything else is for internet GEEKS!

Its a laptop. Had 128meg built on the board so I was told I could only put another 128meg card in the one open slot or else it wouldn`t work.

XP SP2. 256meg RAM. It never used to be this high, its only since I installed that cancer research and Mozilla Firefox that its gone all slow. I run the research in screensaver mode only.

OK. So I know this has something to do with memory and how much is being used but, what I dont understand is why its always running pretty high when the PC is doing nowt!? I have upped it in the past but it just keeps running high and it takes the PC and age to do something ESPECIALLY if I want to watch a media file.
I have ad-aware Pro, Sygate Firewall and AVG and its says Im clean. Any ideas what, if any, problem I have here?

I started to do the conversion using the mentioned software. For some reason it wouldnt shrink it enough to fit on a DVD. No matter, it takes 20 hours to convert and my pc is connected to my TV anyway. Just wanted to do stuff for my pal. Cheers anyway.

The question is, what program do I need to do this? I have a ton of films and tv shows all squished on a single DVD but need to play them via my PC and would like to use my normal DVD player which, obviously, cant lay DIVX things. Thanks folks.
