Jackie`s most famous film. A brilliant film that deserves to be seen by all film fans. This has Jackie playing the role of an underdog and taking on the HK police force and crime lords almost single handedly. It is darker and more well scripted than Jackie`s normal films. Consequently, you have a genuinely moving story that is well acted and directed. The action scenes are outstanding as well and feature defining stunts in Jackie Chan`s career.
HKL have done another good job in making this the best way to see this film. Good extras and transfer make this an essential purchase for DVD collectors. See it NOW.

Intro:
After Jackie had completing the Protector in the US (which flopped), Jackie decided to make a modern day police film and is known to be one of the best modern day action film in Hong Kong and won some awards!

The film actually has some cool stunts in it (as did the other Police Story's) the great pole slide caused Jackie to Burn the skin off his hands, jumped off the first floor landing 'back first' and smashed his head against glass.

Film:
Jackie stars as Chan Ka Kui, a tough Hong Kong Cop who arrests 'Salina Fong' and 'Koo' - a drug lord). She is released on bail on the condition that she witnesses against Koo.
During the trial, Ka Kui protects her for 24 hours from Koo's henchmen try to stop Salina witnessing against Koo but in the trial, Koo's lawyer gets him out of the mess by showing the weaknesses to the court room and Koo is bailed. After the court case, Koo wants Ka Kui framed for murdering a policeman. This is when the REAL action begins…

Picture:
For a film that is 15 years old, you would expect a fair picture. Although it is an anamorphic 2:35:1 picture, we have a grainy picture through most of the film, faint lines appear at the start but go away and the black levels are quite poor but this was possibly due to HKL being given a bad print from Media Asia.

Sound:
We have a Cantonese and an English dub.
(1) The English dub is OK but if you don't like those HKL dubs with the teenage voices, it can be quite annoying but the sound is good.
(2) The Cantonese is quite poor and it sounds like it was post dubbed in a cupboard! - It is very muffled and it is sometimes hard to hear what they are saying but the music seems to be done up again.

Subtitles:
Removable English and Dutch are offered here and there are no spellings mistakes and are easy to read!

Extras:
There are quite a number of great extras here!

An interview with Jackie but they are quite boring as Jackie speaks quietly but he said he is 'nervous' when he speaks in a film.

A photo gallery which I find boring and only worth 1 look - It seems that HKL pause the film 'copy and paste'.

The Outtake Montage presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen (displayed like in VHS 'Made in Hong Kong' Fist of Legend) with Japanese subtitles and contains the ending of the rare and deleted Japanese laserdisc of the film (which is known to have a different beginning).
It shows out side the mall with Chou Too being arrested and Jackie and May together and Salina Fong there too but I wondered if she was getting taken away (hard to tell).
It is a pity that HKL couldn't get the rights to the start of the film and the films negatives were lost - A REAL WORTHY extra.

The HKL trailer which shows 'Drugs, Money and Action Style'.

The Original Trailer shows clips from the movie with Jackie singing the Theme song.

Jackie Chan biography has the 'American Voice Man' speaking out the Biography with clips from the HKL 'library' of Jackie Chan films.

An audio commentary by Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan - who covers facts about the film, the actors and explains about scenes that were cut out. Bey Logan is a great commentator and can really tell the facts about Hong Kong Cinema!

A great film and fantastic extras!

One of Jackie's best so BUY IT!
