Review for WWE Royal Rumble 2014

1 / 10

Worst Rumble EVER!!!!

Now don't get me wrong the worst Rumble ever is still 1000x better than many other PPVs, but this was a PPV that was almost devoid of any entertainment. I actually sat watching this Rumble and I thought 'You know if I had watched this live. I probably would have fallen asleep.'
I watched this Rumble and thought to myself 'How can a Rumble be booked this bad?' I mean I'll get to the good stuff, but if you asked me would I recommend watching this Rumble I'd probably say no. That is a sad, sad, sad day. I think WWE have finally broken my spirit. Bravo WWE! Bravo!

Here we go:

Royal Rumble 2014

Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt

An awesome match that was really surprising. I didn't expect this kind of match out of Bray and proof that along with Punk, Daniel Bryan is one of the best at bringing the best out of someone.

(It's all downhill from here!!!)

Big Show vs Brock Lesnar

Awful. An awful start, a pointless match and then an awful finish. Who watched this and enjoyed it? Even listening to the commentators it was like for God sake just stop this it isn't fun it isn't entertaining and certainly isn't what I wanted to see. The sight of Brock F5ing Show should have been great, but instead was wasted. Please tell me what was this supposed to achieve? Was it meant to make Brock look unstoppable? If it was, it didn't, it made him look like the Bully in the playground who acts all tough with his friends (or Steel Chair in this case), but when alone wets his pants and cries like a baby.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton vs John Cena

This was followed by a match that was even worse. This match was just boring. It smacked of "We have no ideas left". The crowd were quite right chanting everything from "This is boring" to "We want divas" and even the surprise ending was just a head scratcher? A terrible end to a terrible match!

And what's worse is I would have preferred to watch the New Age Outlaws against the Rhodes Brothers over the last two matches?!?!

Of course I then think: Hey where are the Divas? I mean I expected something even if it was just some backstage skit, but nothing???

Rumble Highlights (What there is of them)

Kofi jump highlight as was the boot to Swagger with his... Erm boot

Anyone else think that Dolph was going to eliminate himself out of clumsiness? I mean seriously? I was bouncing around like he'd had a few too many Red Bulls!!!

Kevin Nash coming out to the nWo music? Awesome!

As obvious as it was, I thought The Shield were great throughout.

Great to see Sheamus again... Fella.

El Torito? What? That was all kinds of awesome. Need to see more of him!

Thank you Cesaro I am so dizzy watching that insane spin.

The Shield implosion was great and it will be good to see what happens next.

Now I won't spoil the ending if you don't know who won. But why WWE? Did you hear those boos WWE? What does that tell you? It tells you we don't want to see that??? I can't believe this kind of arrogance!!! It smacks of literally WWE ignoring the fans and if you keep doing that... we will start switching off.

The DVD does include a few extra features including the great match between Goldust and Cody Rhodes against The New Age Outlaws. Though if I'm honest the fact that this was better than most of what was on the PPV is a little depressing. The interviews and segments with WWE Superstars drawing their numbers is fine, but nothing special.

Overall?

This is a Rumble I will never watch again. I hate that I'm saying that. I actually can't believe that WWE managed to mess up the PPV that I love so much. Bryan/Wyatt match aside I did not get any enjoyment out of anything that I would watch again. Even Punk's solid Rumble performance was ruined. Any other result in the Rumble would have been better than what we got. Instead we got a Rumble that I will easily say is one of the worst that there has ever been.

Again... Bravo WWE! Bravo!
