Review for WWE Wrestlemania 32

8 / 10

Wrestlemania 32 was one of the best PPVs I have seen in a while and probably one of the better Manias in recent years. The build wasn't great, including the awful Royal Rumble, but the end result was certainly one that was worth the wait.

Wrestlemania 32 Matches

Ladder Match for Intercontinental Title
Ladder Match was exactly what I thought it would be a spotfest. It was exciting and enjoyable, but nothing really stuck out. Having Zack Ryder win was a surprise and it will be interesting to see what they do with this now. (Note: The answer is nothing!)

Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles
Phenomenal performance by both, not just AJ Styles. This was an amazing match. It would be hard to top this tonight! This proved that AJ Styles is so well respected for a reason and though I don't agree with the outcome, I can at least understand why it happened.

The New Day vs. The League of Nations
I was beginning to tire of the New Day, but I got to admit a giant box of cereal has got me back on the New Day Rocks sides. The match? It was ok. Nothing special and I think that was the problem. As entertaining as The New Day in promos, once they get in the ring it's nothing special. I enjoyed the match, but probably not enough to watch again.

As for HBK, Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin? Now that's a Wrestlemania Moment!

No Holds Barred Street Fight
Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar
When this was first announced I thought it was such a mismatch it would be awful. The build has been amazing and I was surprised how well they did building this up. The match was odd to say the least. At times it was great, but Ambrose relying on weaponary was bizarre at times and this felt more like an old school ECW match. I mean what was he actually going to do with a chainsaw?

Hall of Fame was a good class (ignoring Snoop Dogg and ) The Godfather, Big Boss Man, Stan Hansen, Jacqueline, The Fabulous Freebirds and Sting is probably the strongest year they have had in a long time. The whole induction is included in full which is great.

Triple Threat Women's Championship
Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks
I'm glad that they are changing the name of the belt from Divas, but why did they make it look like a WWE Jammy Dodger? I said that this match was too important to be less than 15 minutes and probably should be even longer. Not including the entrances was just over 16 minutes of pure brilliance. I can't decide whether this is match of the night now. They were given the time to steal the show and I think they may have done that. Charlotte's moonsault was a thing of beauty!

Stating the obvious line from JBL 'you have to be involved in the decision to win'?? You don't say??!!

Hell in a Cell
Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker
Much like Ambrose/Lesnar, this seemed like such a one sided match that I couldn't understand how it would work. But it did. The storyline and stipulations going into the match helped and certainly just how great Shane O'Mac can be on the mic and in the ring. The Cell was not needed in this match though, but elbow drop off it... Just WOW!!!! But seeing Shane take moves like a chokeslam on steel steps was just amazing. The Hells Gate into a Sharpshooter was also great to show Shane as a smart wrestler and not just someone using weapons like Ambrose.

Of course at this point we notice that The Rock hasn't been out yet and sooooo....??

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale
Thought this would be a pre-show match? DDP being in the match was a bit of shock, even more so that Shaq was involved?? The match was good, just oddly placed.

The Rock and The Wyatts?
Yawn!!!!!
Feel the only reason this was here was to see all the lights from the crowd. The match and the whole fall out with John Cena wasn't as entertaining as they think.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
What in all holy moly was that entrance?? I think that is the maddest one he has ever done?? Someone in WWE has clearly been watching Fury Road. The match was fine. Nothing special, but I wasn't really sure what I was expecting. However, it did feel at the end that no one really cared that he won. Instead of lingering on the win with streamers and things it was like... Roman won. Goodnight folks?

As with the last few Manias, the set only includes the full event, Kickoff matches and the Hall of the Fame. The only other extra is a short... and I mean blink and you will miss it... look at the build of the Shane McMahon/Undertaker match. This is nice, but really this is something they should do with all of the matches, or at least the featured ones. It would have been great to have seen more about the Women's feud or the Triple H/Roman Reigns one.

Wrestlemania 32 is a great way to show the best of the WWE and certainly showed why they are the biggest player in town. The Women's and AJ Styles/Chris Jericho matches are some of the best I have seen and there was nothing that was unwatchable. It is true that the event was very long, possibly overlong, but I'm not going to complain about there being more to watch. If you want to see the best the WWE has to offer then this is definitely a set to pick up.
