    Review of Indiscreet

    6 / 10

    Introduction

Indiscreet puts a slight twist on the romantic comedy genre with the dating happening to "older" pepole.....

Bergman and Grant exude the same chemistry as they did in their first outing, Notorious and Grant in particular is at his amusing best, when the plot and the screenplay allows it.

The scene where Grant dances the highland reel is probably the most well known one (and one of the best)

    Video

Not brilliant unfortunately, colour definition is fine with a nice saturation and that traditional 1950`s technicolour wash to things but there is an excessive amount of dirt, dust and scratches which is a shame as this is an excellent classic film.

The film was shot by Freddie Young (alas no longer with us) prior to Lawrence of Arabia and the locations around London have been fairly well filmed and the sets (or indeed set as we spend a lot of time in one place) are well sorted.

    Audio

Audio fares somewhat better, the soundtrack is well defined, speech comes across strongly considering the age of the original and is never intrusively muddy or indistinct.

Music is never annoyingly intrusive and is, at most points, appropriate.

    Features

Not many, but this is a pretty old film. We get the original trailer in cracle-o-vision and a generic photo gallery (I`ve nevre been much of a photo gallery fan myself)

No cunning hidden features, no white rabbits to follow, no seamless branching into the directors cut... sigh I think I`ve been spoiled by the more modern releases!

    Conclusion

The start can be a little slow (that`s a polite way of saying boring ;) but stick with it as the last 20-30 minutes are worth the wait ......

Of course if you are a fan of either of the main stars you probably knew that ;)

Good enough watching, I guess I`ll label it a good date movie / chick flick.
