Review of South Park Volume 15

    8 / 10

    Introduction

The fifteenth and last South Park DVD currently available in region 2 (until the fifth season makes its way here later in the year). This disc contains the final four episodes from the fourth season, and we see one or two old favourites returning to the show, as well as the continuing use of new characters introduced during the season.

    Video

As with the other volumes from the fourth season, you`ll find a good full frame transfer with no problems of note. The fourth season definitely brought some slight improvements over the earlier seasons, but it`s not something that jumps out and grabs you, just some subtle differences in the image quality.

    Audio

Continuing the trend set by all fourteen preceding discs, a DD2.0 stereo track, which is perfectly adequate for the job. But unlike discs from previous seasons the French audio track has now vanished, so you don`t get to try and understand the jokes in French or spot mis-translations. No great loss though.

    Features

    Absolutely zilch.

    Conclusion

The fourth season wraps up with yet more quality episodes, continuing the trend set by episodes like "Cartman`s Silly Hate Crime 2000", "The Tooth Fairy`s Tats 2000", "Cartman Joins NAMBLA" and "Trapper Keeper".

"Helen Keller, The Musical" is the South Park alternative to the normal school play. It`s Thanksgiving, and the children of South Park want their school play to be the best - they`d better watch out for those pesky Thanksgiving turkeys though - is Timmy`s new friend all that he seems?

"Fat Camp" concentrates on our "I`m not fat, I`m big-boned/festively plump" friend Cartman who is packed off to camp to lose weight - can the "Cheesy Poof"-loving child really slim down?

"Wacky Molestation Adventure" features another dig at American society, as adults are banished from the town after wild accusations fly, and the children take over and get a free run of the place.

"A Very Crappy Christmas" features that Christmas Poo himself "Mr Hankey", who is suffering from his newly discovered domestic bliss. The town can`t cope with Christmas without him, and it`s up to our heroes to save the day by creating their very own Christmas video card - the very thing that inspired the creation of South Park itself.

Another great set of episodes from the fourth season, and highly recommended as usual for fans. As mentioned before, if you can stretch to it you should buy the fourth season box set, as it can work out at up to half the price of buying each disc individually!
