    Anime Review Roundup

The Ambition of Oda Nobuna Coming to the UK in April

The retailer listings jumped the gun by a couple of weeks, but MVM finally confirmed that they are indeed releasing that re-imagined history anime, The Ambition of Oda Nobuna on Blu-ray and DVD on April 6th. Back when they released Battle Girls: Time Paradox a few weeks ago, I did opine that it would only be the first in a flood of Oda Nobunaga re-imaginings. Next up is this, The Ambition of Oda Nobuna. Who knows, maybe Nobunagun and Nobunaga the Fool will be next...

Two reviews for you last week, and I’ve been procrastinating like crazy trying to figure out a diplomatic way to put this. I just can’t... Fairy Tail Part 9 is just awful! Not the content, this is one of those points in a long running shonen action show that the story gets good again, the action tends towards the epic once more. No, this time it’s the discs that are awful. The authoring is... well let’s just say that this release is broken.

Thankfully, redemption for the UK anime scene came from Stuart McLean last week, who reviewed Michiko & Hatchin: Part 2. If you recall, Michiko and Hatchin is the odd-couple road movie style anime show, that sees an escaped convict head cross country with an orphan girl looking for her ex-boyfriend (also the girl’s father) and get into all manner of trouble along the way in an unnamed South American country. Its first part was one of the better anime shows to come from Japan in recent years. Stuart finds that Part 2 is even better.

Manga Entertainment afflict us with Part 9 of Fairy Tail on DVD only today. Michiko and Hatchin: Part 2 comes out on DVD courtesy of MVM today as well.
