Classic big screen Jack Rosenthal comedy The Lovers comes to DVD in May

    Inline Image
It was a bit of a done thing in the 60s and 70s, for a successful TV sitcom to eventually make its way onto the big screen. It was also the done thing for very little of what made the TV series so funny to translate into cinema land.

All that said we have no idea how this particular comedy translated, we'll just have to wait for a review! Network Distributing have the DVD release of The Lovers out on 27th May.

Starring Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox, this is based on the 70s Jack Rosenthal sitcom of the same name. Presented in a brand-new transfer from original film elements in its 1.75:1 theatrical aspect ratio, the recommended retail price will be £9.99.
    Synopsis and trailer follow...

Old-fashioned girl Beryl continues to slap down the advances of her frustrated boyfriend, whose clumsy attempts to initiate Percy Filth suggest he’s not quite up to speed himself.

Like everyone else, Geoffrey and Beryl want to fall in love, or they think they do, like everyone else, since Adam and Eve. But Adam and Eve didn’t live in Manchester in 1972.
