'LEE MACK: GOING OUT' DVD RELEASED

"This is stand-up comedy at its most propulsive and persuasive."
    Dominic Maxwell, The Times

BAFTA-winning stand-up LEE MACK, writer and star of BBC ONE'S multi-award winning primetime Friday night sitcom Not Going Out, and resident team captain on Would I Lie to You?, brings his critically-acclaimed stand-up tour Going Out to DVD on 22 November 2010. Recorded live in May at the Hammersmith Apollo during his twice-extended, sell-out national tour, the DVD presents the quick-fire banter and non-stop gags of LEE's warm and distinctive stand-up.

Taking to the stage with his trademark razor-sharp wit, the show sees LEE deliver his unique blend of fast-paced comedy. Combining audience interaction with high-speed ad libs, LEE slickly moves from observation to anecdote in a show thick with one-liners. Bonus DVD extras include a documentary about life on the road, plus a set from tour support SIMON EVANS.

LEE has established himself as one of the UK's biggest comedy stars. The last 12 months alone have seen him: extend his 2010 national tour Going Out twice, selling in excess of 200,000 tickets over 100 dates; write and star in the fourth series of the Royal Television Society and Rose D'Or winningNot Going Out; and return as resident team captain on Would I Lie To You? (BBC ONE).

A prolific writer and performerLEE's TV and radio credits also include: regularly guest hosting Have I Got News For You (BBC ONE); presenting his Sony Radio Award nominated The Lee Mack Show (BBC Radio 2); headlining and hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC ONE); and creating and starring in the BAFTA winning The Sketch Show (ITV1), which ran for two series in the UK before LEE went on to work alongside KELSEY GRAMMER in the American version of the show. An award-winning stand-up, LEE's last tour Lee Mack Live was a sell-out success. Nominated for a British Comedy Award, it wasrecorded for DVD and has subsequently sold over 150,000 copies.

LEE MACK Going Out 18, £19.99, Anchor Bay Entertainment, Length: 70 mins 54 secs

"Mack is a gag-master of the old school, the twist being that he comes at everything in such a fast, often furious manner that he feels utterly modern…the coming decade should finally see him established as one of British comedy's greats."
    Dominic Cavendish, Daily Telegraph

"Everything Mack does - every daft one-liner, every smirk, slip-up, and sprawl across the stage - is bent on laughs. If I wasn't laughing so hard, I'd kick back and admire the craftsmanship."
    Brian Logan, The Guardian

"He's such a craftsman: there's not a slither of fat on his one-liners, dispensed at a restless pace guaranteed to hit the spot."
Steve Bennett, The Mail on Sunday

WHAT THE PRESS HAS SAID ABOUT THE LIVE SHOW:

"Mack is a gag-master of the old school, the twist being that he comes at everything in such a fast, often furious manner that he feels utterly modern. His jokes have the brevity of telegrams. His delivery achieves the mind-blowing quickness of broadband. That whirlwind instability serves to give him a distinctive and treasurable stage personality. Mack is his own man. And, with shows this good, the coming decade should finally see him established as one of British comedy's greats."
    Dominic Cavendish, Daily Telegraph

"Even before he has played this week's first gigs he's proving so popular that he has extended into the autumn. Because what Mack at his best gives us is a pure pleasure in one-liners and artful banter that's both irascible and innocent. Like his fellow Lancastrian Eric Morecombe, Mack puts in a lot of effort to make himself look effortless. But finely wrought though his act is, he never looks as if he's trotting through a script."
    Dominic Maxwell, The Times Playlist

"No self-indulgence, no slack - just a pro playing hard for our entertainment… Everything Mack does - every daft one-liner, every smirk, slip-up, and sprawl across the stage - is bent on laughs. If I wasn't laughing so hard, I'd kick back and admire the craftsmanship."
    Brian Logan, The Guardian

"If the scripted skits were skilful though, the high-velocity ad libbing truly earned Mack his stars. His withering put-downs stunned hecklers at a stroke and a sublime off-script all-guns-blazing encore sealed the deal."
    Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard

"Slick, sharp and very funny show from the star of TV's 'Not Going Out'… He whirls around the stage like a tornado and you're never more than thirty seconds away from the next laugh. He is one of the funniest guys out there at the moment and it's nice to see someone who hasn't lost his edge even after all these years in the game. Well worth the money!"
    Tim Arthur, Time Out

"His gags work because of the hugely warm rapport he builds with his audience, seemingly without effort… That's because he's such a craftsman: there's not a slither of fat on his one-liners, dispensed at a restless pace guaranteed to hit the spot."
Steve Bennett, The Mail on Sunday

"Mack powers out the absurdities with such accuracy and pace you're never ahead of him… this is stand-up comedy at its most propulsive and persuasive."
    Dominic Maxwell, The Times
