Review for Night of the Living Dead 3D

    1 / 10

Night of the Living Dead is one of the classics of the horror genre. A brother and sister, Johnny and Barb go to an aunt's funeral only to discover that the cemetery run by the creepy Gerald Tovar is crawling with the undead. These zombies feed on the flesh of the living and will stop at nothing to fumble and stagger to get them. Barb manages to escape and is rescued by Ben who takes her to Henry's house, who promptly does not believe her, but then as he is growing marijuana that's not surprising. It's not long before the zombies find the house and try and get in. Everyone must work together to try and stay alive before the zombies get in.

    Oh my God!

This is the type of film that would make George Romero die, just so he could spin in his grave. I cannot tell you how awful, how simply horrifyingly awful this film is. And I don't mean that in a 'so bad, it's good' way, I mean in a 'this film should never have been made and the filmmakers should be ashamed of themselves' way. And it's not like Romero sold out the film to make some money as he failed to copyright the original film and so anyone can remake this film and Romero cannot do a single thing about it. It's a shame that because of that, films like this can exist. Films that look like they have had no effort put into them whatsoever. This makes the awful Dawn of the Dead remake look like a masterpiece.

I have never watched a film at home in 3D, but with the new trend of every film being made in 3D I may have to get used to it. This film did not benefit from the gimmick as there were simply not enough uses of it and the times when things would seemingly come out of the screen it felt like the director went 'Ok this scene isn't working, I'll just throw in a 3D effect and no one will notice how bad it is.' Sadly, I did notice. At one point, the characters walk into the living room where the original Romero film is on the TV (Remember no copyright issues) and my brain just hurts at thinking of this writer sitting at a computer thinking that this meta-reference would be funny. It's not.

Night of the Living Dead 3D is a film that should never have been allowed to be made. There is simply not an ounce of originality in it or indeed of quality. From the horrible acting, the terrible 3D effects, the convoluted plot that tries to make sense of the undead and falls flat on its face. This is just all so very, very bad that you can understand why Romero was not bothered that they never included him in the credits, I know I wouldn't want to be associated with this either.
